Participantnot quite sure how to explain this one, other than it doesnt sound right. when the machine is on its normal cycle all seems fine, but the minute it goes into spin mode at the end of the wash or is put on for an additional spin cycle, it just sounds wrong.
it becomes noisey and laboured, as if it is about to break. which it may do, but i was wondering if anyone had experienced this before. Not sure if it is the drum, the belt, the bearings so before i try and hack my way around in the back of it i wanted to ask the experts.
Thanks for looking and for any help you can offer,
Colin

If its making a high pitched noise when on the spin cycle, it’s more than likely your bearings need replacing…try putting you finger on the top of the stainless steel drum and lifting up with your finger slightly… If you encounter any movement there..it’s usually a sign of worn bearings..
Not sure if your machine employs a sealed drum unit. If this is the case then the bearings alone can’t be replaced..only the complete drum assembly…(expensive)…
Someone on here should be able to tell you if this is the case, as I have not worked on this model before..

thanks Martin, I shall try the lifting thing, though the noise is deeper and not high pitched. And I can only hope its not the expensive option, thanks for answering.

I think its a split tub on this machine, at least on most of them so bearings can be replaced separately, you need to take off the top & look to see if the tub assembly is fixed around the middle with screws or plastic welded. Welded type is expensive to do screwed tub means bearings can be replaced.

Thanks Seamy, I will try and take the top off for a look. Fingers crossed it ain’t welded, looking on the electrolux site the replacing the tub assembly could be expensive.I tried Martins suggestion last night and it looks to me as though the drum is moving, but all of it, not by much but enough to notice.
why does nothing last forever!

Sorry, just to clarify.. When i say to lift the drum..i meant to say put your finger inside the door, and just slightly lift the inner drum at the 12 o clock position…

Another thing you could try, is to remove the belt from the motor..and spin the motor by hand…it could be the bearings in that have gone and are the cause of the noise… Worth a try before you decide it’s time for new drum bearings
