My main oven has stopped heating up, the fan comes on, the neon light is on but it only seems to to get tepid-as if on defrost.

Thought it may be thermostat rather than element, set oven to 50, held match over thermostat and it did not click the oven off as if at temp.

Could it be this or is it more likely the element?

The only way to prove your diagnososis would be to test the element for continuety.

    Hope this helps

Fan oven elements live short violent lives…….

As WVM said, continuity check best way of finding out, although there is often visible damage to be seen.

3116448-00/6 is the p/no for the element if required, around £25 from memory. Email to spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk for ordering and confirmed pricing.

    Power off when investigating.

have taken element out and disconnected it-no continuity-reconnected and left switch in off position, have continuity…………..Is the element busted? It is irregular in places, should it be an even shape all the way around?

No continuity out of circuit means it’s a deader. Time for another one – see post above.
