    Hello,
I’m looking to buy a decent washing machine.

At one store a sales man gave me a lecture about how completely electronic machines tend to overheat and the electronics are very expensive to repair and not included in the warranty (that was a Bosch machine we discussed).

He suggested electro mechanical would be more reliable… I find it a bit wierd in this day and age, but I know nothing about this area.

    What do you guys think?

    Many thanks,

There is no machine made these days that has an electro-mechanical operating system. All are fully electronic and your salesperson is full of misinformed waffle.

Well you wouldn’t using a UK website in Israel. I suggest you source LOCAL information. I’m sure Israel is full of electrical shops with good local advice. Shalom!

The problem for international visitors Martin is that, all too often, there’s scant information on front loaders that we’ve had in Europe for decades. These are slowly replacing old top loaders which were, in large part, more electro-mechanical.

But, what with concerns over water and energy use the drive seems to be to replace these energy guzzlers with more efficient European style machines.

However, there’s not a lot of information on them in many territories so, we get asked here because we know a lot more about them than most. I suspect you’d find that in the stores as well.

After all, just think how long it takes to alter opinion in Blighty. 😉

Israelmall seems a good place to start. It seems there are plenty of stores out there flogging all the popular stuff from Blomberg and Beko….right up to Miele.
