I’ve been searching through the forum for a thread on this topic, but haven’t found one – apologies if there is one out there!

I recently bought a house with a ESI602 which I recon is a couple of years old – it works fine generally, but has recently started playing up…

It runs through the 65deg wash programme without any problems and drains at the end of the cycle, but after a couple of hours, very smelly water seeps back into the machine. To get rid of the smell, I need to start the cycle again so that the water is pumped out and switch it off again just as it starts filling, but after a few hours, the water (along with the smell) is back.

I’ve checked the outlet connection under the sink and it all seems in order, in fact, the small amount of water that came out of the pipe didn’t even smell, so I’m at a loss.

I had an engineer out who discovered a miniscule pip in the bottom of the machine, claimed that it was the problem and rushed me £55 for the pleasure of spending 10mins in my home. Unfortunatly, the problem remains.

    Ideas, anyone? Thanks.

    Check that area again 🙂

Water is back-syphoning from your sink in to the dishwasher, ensure the hose is raised at some point at least as high as the sink outlet, that should solve it.

Hi Dave, thanks for the quick reply.

I dismantled the assembly under the sink and found that the rubber in the one-way valve had perished, presumably causing water to run back into the dishwasher. I’ll replace it and see whether this fixes the problem.
