    Remember the Connect game we have all played, Regarding spares pricing. I have just priced 2 Whirlpool parts and on both Connect Online and the DVD and the Online price for each item was a pound more expensive!
    I thought that on line buying was supposed to save you money!

    Hitting “check price and availablity” will normally set the price on the DVD the same as the online price 🙂

    I don’t use the system at all, I don’t even have an account with Connect/Electrue (whatever), but from what I read in here, as that’s all I can go on, it seems to be a lottery as to the price you get. And, when you do get a price eventually, it’s often more expensive than the suppliers we do use so there’s no need for me to change so far as I can see.

    I have found that Electrue’s price structure can be very strange. I just ordered two sets of HP Bosch (1604462) brushes. Failed to check the price multiples and was charged £12.10 each. If I had ordered at the X4 price they would have been £6.31. Almost 4 for the price of 2. Would they not be able to flag this up when you are building you order? I am looking forward to Maddocks Europart getting there new site up and running as they are promising up to date pricing and live availability and I have always found there prices to be very competitive. Masterparts non gen prices are very good but I find most gen stuff not much difference from Connect and the stock holding much lower. If there is an alternative out there please let me know

    I’m glad you asked that 🙂

    Having spoken to pretty much all the main wholesalers in depth over the last few months (apart from Maddocks although I (we – UK Whitegoods) do now have an account with them) it would appear that a lot of the traditional Connect customers are a little tired of their antics with pricing policies.

    To be honest, with genuine spares unless the likes of Maddocks, Qualtex, Homespare and Masterpart source directly from the factory the prices won’t vary too much, they (the manufacturers) all have a set discount structure to wholesalers and won’t budge much under 45{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} apart from special offers.

    Where the difference lies in genuine spares much of the time is the spares are sourced direct but the margin saved by doing so isn’t passed on to us, but that’s business to a certain degree as the outlay is much higher as quantities are enormous.

    That said, and going back to my original paragraph, the traditional “smaller” wholesalers or more specialised such as Qualtex who were only traditionally really regarded as a pattern spares supplier are increasing their genuine stocks massively and will all be offering a more “one stop shop” solution…

    Two reasons IMO:

    1/ Connect taking the p**s with their arrogance and ridiculous pricing structure

    2/ The possible demise of Washvac (Partcenter)

    I can’t get over the anti electrue stance by some members on this site.we have no probs with their pricing structure you just need to commit yourselves with them and speak to the right person 😆 after all their stockholding is second to none,and lets not forget who pays for this service OUR customers! regarding washvac i think they are getting there with stock holding and prices hopefully giving electrue something to think about

    The big one, my collegue ordered a Philco double valve the cost £30+
    This could have been any double valve, as soon as spotted it was returned. and a 161186 substituted.
    The handling charge 30{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} = £9 plus….. The cost for the same part from Indesit £8 plus.
    We could have bought the same part for less than the handling.
    I am still arguing this one… Well and truly stitched up and who gives a monkeys, certainly not the customer care,, the Rep maybe.

    I spend well into 5 figures per month with Connect, but my price for a servis pump is PMP 952 £11.19 + Vat…..

    I think thats the issue with some people, you have to consider me as committed with that amount of spend, therefore committment does not mean the best prices. Thats not an anti view, just fact.

    maybe so but as i said in my first post talk to the right person and you get results

    I accept talking to the correct person might get results…..but I can choose to give the business elsewhere, which I do.

    Therefore electrues/connects price is ok with me if they don’t want the sale thats fine.
    Thats not an anti view, but I subscribe to the general view that their pricing structure is confusing.

    They went for all the business and now feel they have it, what else is to be expected… With the demise of such as TMS and a whole host of other smaller players closing this is only the start..
    perhaps a look at this forum may encourage them to remain competitive and ensure they are offering what they portray.
    You can go off suppliers.

    totally agree kevin pricing structure is confusing but at the same time so is everyone else’s in an ideal world we should all have across the board ‘tesco’ prices eg one price fits all.as it’s been put already even turnover with electrue is no guide at all

    Although i’m not doing a great deal in the way of repairs and ordering at the moment I am still selling plenty of stock through other means and generally find Maddocks the cheapest for the limited stocks they have.

    However, I got a phonecall from someone called Fran at Connect who asked why I hadn’t ordered anything from them for a while and if there was a problem. I simply said that your prices are not competitive, and that I had been promised that the I would have a discount put on my account after I complained (when the connections lottery post was first made) that the prices I was being charged were alot higher than many other traders were quoting they were being charged.

    She asked who I was buying from and what were my most common items, I get through loads of hotpoint patten bearings and usually order 30-40 sets at a time from madock are £2.26 ish, I told her that I needed those and am only paying 2.26 and she said she’d do them for £2.20 for the BRG929 (my normal price is £2.75)

    I Also get through the large Zanussi ones, which they normally sell for £5.99 (BRG942260) Maddock again do them for under £5, she dropped the price to £4.80.

    As much as the online ordering is great and easy, if you have the time to sit and talk on the phone to your rep or the sales staff and not rip the ass out of it, but quote the prices you are paying to the likes of Maddocks etc.. I’m sure they’ll drop too.

    By dropping the price on those 2 items they got a £400 order out of me that week, if they hadn’t. Maddocks would have got it.

    I do think that they should have a set scale of rates though as it seems no one is being charged the same for anything.
