ParticipantHi
I have a Eletrolux Aqualux 1000 EW1000 l (it looks fairly old, it was in the house when we moved in).
The internal drum is loose – it has about an inch of play in it up and down and seems to be loosest at the front. I took the machine out from under the worktop and a belt fell out of the bottom.
I assume this is the only problem as it only started not being able to spin today.
The belt says ‘124021120’ made by Hutchinson (France) ‘1280 J MAEL’. The belt is about 1 cm wide and has 5 grooves on one side.
Do you think it is fixable – the internals look fairly inaccessible.
Is this belt from the front of the machine?
Thanks for the help

To be brutally honest you need to get rid of this machine.
I’m guessing that the machine has been rather noisy on final spin for a while.
When the belt falls of it is a sign that the drum bearings and the drum support shaft are very badly damaged, a major strip down and very costly to fix. 😥

Hi
Thanks for the reply, I forgot to say in my original post that the belt has actually snapped. I assume this adds more weight to your argument that this machine needs to go?! 😕

Possibly not, now the belt is off, is the drum virtually silent when you spin it round fast by hand?

Yes – no unusually loud noises. Its pretty free

It should make hardly any noise at all, unless the main bearing has now collapsed and it is running on the rear one only. There should be no play at all between the stainless steel inner drum and the outer drum.

Sorry to resurrect a dead post but….
I’ve just got the same problem with the same machine. It’s been noisy on the final spin for a while and now it’s gone pop. There is no sign of the belt but there is play of about an inch on the drum. It’s silent and smooth when rotated by hand.
Is this something I can repair? it all looks pretty inaccessible. Thanks!

If there is that much play between inner and outer drum then it is BER to be honest.
