ParticipantI was wondering if somebody could help please.
I have an Elica Filo IX/A/90 cooker hood which has stopped working and is just making a buzzing noise. Neither the light or extractor will come on when I press the button.
Anybody have any advice on how I can diagnose the issue and find out what the issue is?
Many thanks.

ParticipantThanks for your reply.
so I have tried the usual first steps. Disconnect from power, reconnect etc… when I reconnect to power I can hear a buzzing noise coming from near the power in to unit…

KeymasterThe 12NC code for the hood would help, that’s explained here:

KeymasterIn that hood like most you’ve really only get the control switch and main control module that would interact with both lights and motor but it’s important to work out which it might be and that I can’t really help with.
The two parts however are:

ParticipantI have buried my head since last post but realise I need to get this fixed… if I buy the parts, are they something I ca replace myself or will I need an electrician?

KeymasterThe hardest parts are diagnosis and getting to the parts, actually swapping them is pretty simple stuff.

ParticipantSo potentially I could try and do that myself… with your guidance?

KeymasterYes but there’s really not a lot of specific guidance that I can give you as mostly all we have and have to work from is a blowout like the attached.

BlockedIt sounds like your Elica Filo IX/A/90 might have a power supply issue or a malfunctioning component. First, check if the cooker hood is properly connected to the power supply and ensure the circuit breaker hasn’t tripped. If the power is fine, the buzzing noise could indicate a problem with the motor or the capacitor. You might need to open the hood to inspect the motor and capacitor for any visible damage or signs of wear. If you’re not comfortable with electrical repairs, it’s best to consult a professional technician to diagnose and fix the issue safely.
