    Hi
I’m currently a site services engineer and look for a career change to white goods engineer.
I have a few questions if anyone would be kind enough to answer for me please.
    1. Can you recommend a good training course.
2, What’s the chance of getting a job with no experience.
3, pros and cons of the job….warts and all?

    Thanks in advance
    Ian

    Re: Engineer training

Best bet may be to try with one of the big boys to do the training and get a few years experience. I did 10 years with hotpoint before going alone
It is a hard trade to be in these days

    Cheers for the replies guys
Was thinking of doing a training course off my own back to try and get into a company. wasn’t really thinking of starting on my own.
Is that a shitty career choice working for yourself or a shitty job full stop Martin?

There are many hoops to jump through and hurdles to clear if you plan starting out self employed. Working for a major manufacturer will give good grounding as to what lies ahead for you in the trade. I’m walking away from it having spent 50 years in the business. I can see little long term prospects for anyone these days, those days are gone. I can think of a dozen better trades to take up all of which are hands on with great prospects, though location could be an issue for you.

Send Knowhow your CV . As long as you spell your name right you’ll be offered a senior engineer roll. Don’t panic if you do get it wrong they’ll still offer a job.
