    Hello and Happy New Year,

During a frenzied cleaning session before Christmas I attempted to clean my mum’s at least 15 year old cooker. A Belling Forum, model 317 or 327, 329, 331, 332, 335, 371.
The bottom oven door was particularly bad and I had intended on just taking it apart to clean between the glass. After I saw the state of the hinges and then saw the screws that held them on I thought that’d be good, I’ll take them off.

Now after cleaning everything up like new almost, due to the ridiculous design of the cooker I can’t get the hinges re-attached. I assumed they would just screw back into the cooker as any sane person would but no, some designer thought lets make the bit you screw into hidden and then make it move when the screws come out so it’s impossible to screw back into. Genius.

So my question is, does the main inner black part (sides, top, bottom) of the bottom oven come out so I can get to the parts that have moved to re-attach the hinges? I hope you will know what I’m talking about, it’s quite difficult to explain. If I can get confirmation that the inner part of the oven can definitely be removed I’m sure I get the hinges back on.

Your help will be much appreciated. Any questions just ask.

    Thanks

    John

    Hi

At a guess the sides will need to come off which might mean the top also has to come off also.

How complicated is that likely to be to someone who’s never done it before?

    Hi

If it’s gas then I would advise you get a gas safe domestic appliance engineer or electric a standard appliance engineer. It may cost you more in the long run if you mess it up.

Thanks for your help Bryan. There’s been talk of getting a new cooker so this might be the time. If not I know an appliance engineer I would think could sort it.
