    Hi,

After 3 years of perfect operation out dishwasher has stopped working and gives an error – C2. This occued near the start of a cycle and there is about 2 inches of water in the bottom of the machine. I cleaned out the water and checked the fiter and sump and both seem clean. When I switch on the machine the drain pump does not come on as it normally does. Does anyone have any ideas? Is there another filter for the drain pump? Is there some switch that stops the drain pump from starting under certain conditions?

C2 is a drain error so the syptoms you describe go along with this.

Have you checked the point at which the drain hose connects ? If it’s to the sink trap it may well be blocked there.

    Dave,

Thanks for the reply. I have just checked the drain point at the sink and it is fine. I also lowered the drain hose and got some clean water out of it (cleaner than the water in the machine). The drain from the sink is also OK. Could it be blocked between the sump (the easily accessible one below the filter) and the outlet from the dishwasher?

Do you know if it would give another error if the drain pump has gone?

    Thanks

Nope afraid not, the machine can only detect that it’s not draining, it’s possible there’s a blockage internally, equally the drain pump could be the culprit.

Maybe time for an engineer ? Check repairs@ and the directories 😉

    Dave.
