My Hotpoint FDW70P dishwasher has just stopped part way through the normal wash cycle (program 1), flashing “A10” on the display.
I think it was on the drying cycle, but seemd very hot.
Any info on the meaning of this code? The instruction manual is useless as usual. 🙁

Your Indesit 😥 dishwasher with Hotpoint’s name on the front is supposed to have a fill valve/ valve triac fault. These error codes are only a guide as to the possible area of the fault, anything from faulty components to bad connections can generate error codes. You do have a 5 year g/tee on the parts but the Indesit Company charge almost £90.00 for a call out. Difficult to second guess whether a local independant may be a better proposition. Try the link below if you decide to go down that route. Plug out at all times if you decide to have a look yourself.

The module is not over expensive so have a word with a local man/woman they would almost certainly be cheaper than Indesit.

Thanks for that. Its only 6 months old, so still under warranty 🙂 , but I thought if it was something simple like a blocked hose, it would save waiting around for an engineer.

My last Whirlpool lasted 12 years – can’t see this one doing that.

I have condemned Indesit appliances at 18 months to two years old in the past couple of weeks, totally uneconomic to repair. 👿 At least the Hotpoint badge on the front of this Indesit, gives you 5 years parts guarantee. I have customers with Hotpoint branded, Bosch made dishwashers over 20 years old still working perfectly, if that doesn’t give you a clue as to the direction you need to look then nothing will. 😉

I looked at Bosch (and loads of others), but thought the rack layout very poor. The Whirlpool was great, all the lower racks could be removed, and the upper basket just seemed to take all our stuff.

The current trend seems to be with fold-down parts on the bottom basket, but if you fold them down to wash a pan, you lose most of the plate holders. The Hotpoint just seemd to be the best of a bad bunch.

The fault code cleared after power off/on, and went through a quick wash program OK. I’ll still calll the engineer though, as the fault wiil probbaly return when its 13 months old 🙁

    Thanks for your help. 🙂

    Hi Guys,

Well, the engineer came, no sign of the fault tho. He said A10 was a heater problem, but he checked it through and couldn’t find any problem.
All working at the moment, and at least it’s been logged as a reported fault if it appears again out of warranty.

    Thanks for your advice. 🙂
