Error codes 4 and 5 – HOTPOINT DWF50P

The Hotpoint manual states that flashing lights 4 and 5 mean that water is not connected – but my water connection is functioning ok. There is a buzzing from the right side of the machine (bottom) – sounds to me as though a microswitch sensor or pump has gone on the blink.
Any ideas/suggestions welcomed. P.S. Like the look of the site!

4+5 is timeout on fill. Humming noise most likely solenoid on fill valve, so kinked hose behind machine distinct possibility, assuming, as you say, that the water is on.
