ParticipantHI,
I have this job on Monday evening, client says tripping electrics at the end of the cycle when pumping water out. Now it tripping at the start when it pumps out.
Usually this kind of tripping episode means low insulation usually heaters but pump? I have never come across this before. Has anyone came across this before? The Lux dishwashers are not really my strongest point but I seem to be getting quite a lot these recently. I had better strengthen my knowledge on these…
Obviously I need to have a look at it and see if there are any leaks around the pump. At the moment I can only speculate… as well arm myself with some knowledge.
Some pointers would not go amiss…

I’d go along with that same logical approach. Your megger will show you what you can’t see whilst you’re there…… 😉

Visited the address, checked the megger on the d/w – a big fat zero!
Opened the panel on the bottom and found lots of water on the base. Mopped it up and checked for visible drips but nothing. The water was fairly clear.
The owner says that it tripped the electrics at the end of the rinsing stage before the drying stage. I checked the drain pump seal which looks intact as there was water inside the sump and it was not dripping out anywhere.
I thought that is good sign as I can rule out pump, sump seals. That leaves summat mechanical, or somewhere along the line that leaks under pressure.
Any ideas? Has anyone come across this?
I am due to return to pull out the dishwasher for closer inspection.

I would think that the leak could be the feed tube to upper arm – check the securing nut inside the machine or the three way hose from sump to pump/heater

Removing the heater was very straightforward but putting them on is another matter. I could not get the clamp onto the heater unit inside so I had to resort to cutting out a hole in the rear to get access with the client’s permission. It worked a treat! I tried all sort of ways, my long nosed pliers was not long enough, my grip is not strong enough to squeeze, access from the other size is simply not accessible due to my biggish hand.
No doubt I shall get a ribbing from others saying why didn’t I do it the other way, etc. I covered the hole with a nice thick plastic sheet and glued it on. It looks rather neat I must say! Shame it’s only on the rear.
