ParticipantOver the weeks of reading these threads I picked up the fact the Maddocks were still alive and kicking, ‘rebadged’ now as Europart Maddocks. When I first started on my own in 1973, HT Maddocks & Son Ltd was where I got all my spare parts from (well almost all). Did a good trade with them and I even got a genuine Maddocks 12inch Ruler as a freebie! I still have my ruler today and use it every once in a while (that’s around 30 years old now and worth a bit!) but I closed my account with them long ago.
So today I thought I would give them another go, see what they have to offer so to speak, signed up another 30day account. I spoke to the young lady in Pontypridd (sweet lady) She said in here fantastic Welsh accent “Ooooh! theres lovely isn’t it, I’ll be dealing with your account, so I will, what can I ‘elp you with?” When I asked for a password for Internet spares ordering it was “Ooooooooh Password is it? let me read this to you, the instructions like!”………..Bless her heart.
Such a friendly attitude was gratefully received by me I can tell you. I hope we can be good trading partners again (there’s luvly!)

ParticipantThat’ll be Peggy then (pronounced Peh – ggy). There are times I think I buy stuff from them just to listen……..
Very good prices on German parts, if a slightly limited range.
Never did get the internet bit working though.

Their Internet site is fine and you should be able to get it going. The benefit is that shopping is slightly cheaper from them via the Internet. Peggy is no expert unfortunately, but could put you through to their IT bloke for them to help get you on line.
Their 1603071 armatures are still in stock at £25.04 (or barter for 2 Welsh Lambs and a bunch of Daffs!)

Do you think so ? Personally I find it horrendous, even on broadband it takes an age to load, if you want to see a picture it doesn’t open a new window so you have to use the back button to return to the section (takes ages to load again 🙄 ), no indication of stock levels, and it’s written using Actinic Catalogue software which IMO has the worst shopping cart known to man.

Correction! Peggy from Maddocks just phoned to say, “Unfortunately, Hotpoint tell us these Armatures are obsolete, so we cannot supply you!”
You are also correct about their website, it is a bit…eer……WELSH!

ParticipantIf you need the part in a hurry Maddocks have a trade counter on the Airfield industrial estate at Christchurch, Trading as Ashcroft Agencies Ltd. Which includes a good stock of industrial cleaner motors and parts.
