    Hi all

I have just lost my maddocks internet connection ( not used it last month ) due to every thing was not stocked.
My question is can you get these parts & prices from anywhere else ?
I like there website, lots of stuff listed ( hardly anything in stock ) 😥
Cant use it much So they cut me off 😥
This makes even connect look good 😯

    National general spares wholesalers:

    Qualtex
    Homespares
    Masterpart
    Connect Distribution
    Europart.

Pick any two and you’ve covered most options.

You liked their website? I thought it was bl@@dy awful! Anyway, I’m in the same boat as you. William still sends me nice promos addressed to “Dear Customer” though…..

    No row. 🙂

I’d agree with you but what I would say is that, an account or at the very least a route to buy from each, is far preferable to just two. Problem is a lot of people can’t be bothered to check more that even one and that, to me, is just plain daft as you can save yourself a fortune shopping about.

Just remember, ever Pound you save buying a part is another Pound in YOUR pocket!

Not used Homespare for a couple of years.
Two weeks ago I had to go to the local sorting office to pick up a letter that hadn’t got the correct postage on it.
When I got there before he handed it over I noticed Homespare written on the envelope and was told there was no postage paid at all on it.
    I didn’t pay it either 😉 !!

Ah, but theres the rub, the little guys amongst us don’t generate enough stock turnover to get the best discounts unless we stick to one or two suppliers and there is also the carriage charges for small orders to include in the calculation, not much point saving a £1 on a part then paying £5 to get it delivered.

So elucidate, ‘a route to buy from each’ 😕

    Ah but Jim… 😉

Often the carriage charge is more (sometimes a lot more) than the carriage charge, £20 difference on a part is not unusual. 😉

One yesterday was a set of fridge hinges, £7.99 from Masterpart, the cheapest. Same part from two other suppliers, £23. I don’t care what the carriage charge is, it isn’t £30 for two hinges.

One day I’ll get time to give a general guide on what to buy from whom or, at least, where to start. But as usual, time is the auld enemy.

One missing from the list is AW Services for Hygena/MFI and a lot of the bits used on those brands which can be from multiple sources and there’s no lower limit on an AW account. For some parts the savings can be considerable there too.

It’s all time to be able to do it.

    Re: europart spares suppliers

    I admit to it
I have a order of several parts which I price up as a full order which each supplier inc p/p ete
Does not take long, and you would be supprised at the difference sometimes. postage does make it hard, seme/sali used to be great but there prices are not competative anymore.
I know the likes of connect hate this but as my old dad says”you can’t tell me they just buy from anyone willynilly”. They shop around to get the best discounts and arangements, they have clout and they use it.
They hate if we try to.

That doesn’t make a lot of sense, but I know what you meant. 😆

The carriage charge is one small part of it. not having a large enough order to generate the best discounts if I was to spread my parts usage over 4 or 5 suppliers is the main problem.

Do AW services have a web site you can order/price check or do you have to keep phoning them?

    Re: europart spares suppliers

    TBH…

Having an account is half the battle. The other half is having time to compare the prices.

I often check three suppliers at least on each part I look up, Masterpart, Maddocks and Connect and usually in that order.

The first thing to do, in any event, is to try to get the original part number (OPN), without that transparency I have to say I’m left cold. Even CDSL’s system will offer alternatives if you have the OPN and it makes lookups a lot easier on others. We try to use the OPN’s in the shop as it makes our life easier when sourcing parts, as in where to get them fastest and at the best price we can. By all means use the shop to do a lookup and feel free to ask about where to get a part as, if we know and I or Dave sees it we’ll try to help.

Most can be found on any of the above though and, often, you’ll find the supplier’s reference on the “model” field in the shop, that’s a good indication of where to buy as it’s where we usually buy. 😉

I know it can be a pain………..but in my experience the best price is ALWAYS acheived on the ‘phone.

If I order online I can be sure I won’t be able to negotiate a better price! Some times the ‘phonecall is worth the time

    Not so.

People call us and it takes up more time, that costs more. 😉
