Participantfault reported was could not open door.went round with new handle kit.could not get door open.tried everything i could think of ie pulling wire across back of latch, also strimmer cord.tried strong cable tie to push latch.all to no avail.i actually dont think it is handle that is broken and is more to do with interlock even though lock can be heard engaging and disengaging. both interlock and handle kit not too cheap so reluctant to break handle off.paul

Interlock should have a little button on it & if its pushed in it should release. Have a look at a new interlock & you’ll see the locking pin that comes out when closed. Lots of these going faulty & not releasing.

Door will not open. posted this problem previously.Seamy kindly replied and and said about button on interlock that can be pressed to release door. Was unable to see any visible way of opening it and had to resort to breaking interlock off. tried usual methods to open it,wire and strimmer cord across back of handle etc but this one has a raised lip on i/lock that prevents any contact with latch.Another one to look at tomorrow so any help appreciated.Paul

Merged both threads, much better if you can post in the original one, keeps things tidy and saves confusion. 😉

If you look at a new interlock, when an interlock locks with power aplied to it, a thermo actuator heats up & pushes a little pin, usually a square button is pushed out which keeps door locked so it can’t be mechanically opened while machine is on & for a few minutes after cycle finishes, the thermo actuator should cool down & release.
If theres a fault sometimes the pin/button sticks & does’nt release. If you look at a new interlock, locate where this is you can get a machine released by pushing it in with a small screwdriver.
If its handle broken, you should still be able to push latch pin, with top off reach down to interlock you can see metal latch coming through interlock, it should move with a screwdriver to side, then pull door & it should open.January 29, 2013 at 1:27 pm #388880clockworkone

Thanks again Seamy. Can you confirm that the lock you are talking about is 1325560009.there is no access to anything from back of lock and access to front is very very limited when fitted.Sorry for all the questions.Paul

That’s the one!
I don’t think on these solenoid type interlocks that you can access the locking pin? Though the thin wire trick should get it open.

Strimmer cord eh, brilliant, why didn’t I think of that? I’ve got reels of the stuff in my potting shed too!
Muchos grassyass amigo! 😀
