Hi I have followed the Excellent advice on this forum to fix a blocked pump on my F & P IW 701……

However now it has another fault 136 .
Can anyone offer help with this one??

The machine slipped over with some residual water in it while I was getting to the pump motor, so I woulder whether something got wet!!!

    Thanks Robert 😳

Drive motor stall. Possiblities are wiring, rotor position sensor (rps) or motor controller board.

Wiring is the place to start, especially as you say things may have got wet. Check where the loom turns under the drum for breakages and chaffing, then where it connects to the rps and star point (motor connectors). Make sure both are secured in place. If they’re wet, you have a problem. Corrosion issues due to long term water leakage is also an issue.

RPS is a regular failing. It’s a Hall Effect sensor, and they do go faulty.

If it all checks out, you’re looking at the motor controller board.

    Thanks for that.
I have cleaned and dryed the terminals and now it fills and washes.
HOWEVER…..when it’s time to pump out the water the pump runs intermitently….stop start stop start…then it stops with error 62…..

So I am kind of back where I started…Does this mean the pump is U S..
I put it into diagnostic mode and tried running the pump that way but it is still on off ing.

    Any suggestions?????

Yup, pump on it’s way out. Overheating and cutting out, so you’re back to your original problem.

Thanks Mr Penguin, you have great wisdom!!!

The F&P man has been and changed the motor….
    but guess what????
After he left the machine filled washed and then died completely……

He came back and tells me the Main Board has failed due to the new motor?????

This sounds crazy to me, surely the new motor would be less strain on the control board??

Even more interesting he hasn’t left the old parts after the 2nd visit….

I’m not paranoid….but….DOES THIS SOUND RIGHT??????

    Mr Penguin you opinion please.

He left the old pump after thr first visit. It Showed minor corrosion on the winding.
After the second visit he took the pump and replaced the “main board””
But left nothing. The pump and board are both gone.

Mind you it is now going like new.

My question is does changing a worn out pump cause the board to fail?
Or has he done something odd?? Or is it “bad luck”

    Thanks for all your help…
    Regards
    Robert.

PS do you know aything about F&P French door fridges??

Got to be bad luck, really.

Start a thread for the fridge – Bigsmokepiker will probably be able to help.

Not unusual that motor controller (PCB) can be affected by Pump
    or vica versa
FP French door fridge , can certainily try and help there
