ParticipantHi guys,
I am having an issue with my Fisher & Paykel MW051-U.
It will turn on and everything seems peachy until I press start and nothing happens (no noise) except for the first light of the wash progress stops flashing and goes solid.I think its an issue with the lid switch failing but I ran the diagnostics anyway and (assuming I did it correctly) it came up with
Error 76
00110010
Again I can’t be positive the diagnostics thing worked as I never got the two beeps before pressing ‘advance’ and I am the most untechnically minded person I know.
Love to know what you believe the issue might be and what I might do to resolve it , Cheers in advance!!May 4, 2008 at 11:44 am #251228Penguin45

50 – hot water valve fault. Poor wiring connection at valve or pcb possible. Valve may have failed – check for 15 ohms resistance.

Hi
I’ve got a 708 smartdrive and today it has displayed exactly the same symptoms. A diagnostic check showed code 50. both valves show 15ohms and seem to work fine in diagnostic mode. I looked at the circuit board and couldn’t find any probs ( I’m no expert but resistors all seemed OK).
I checked the OOB switch and even tried short circuiting it but still no go.I’ve had the circuit board replaced twice (once under warranty). The third time it broke down it had the same problem as the last time when F&P told me it was the board and it cost nearly $300 including parts and service fee. I found this site and bugger me but after searching around I worked out it was just the level sensor and after a quick blow of air it was as good as gold again.
I won’t be calling on them again!
Any ideas because if it’s the board I think the F&P’s days are up.
Cheers 😕

OK
As a last resort I just short circuited the lid switch and hey presto!
The thing’s worked for years regardless of the lid being open or shut, but apparently not now. Doesn’t explain the code though??
It’s a shame they’re not more reliable because when they run they do a great job.00110010

Do make a point of replacing the lid switch – it is a safety feature.
