F & P MW059NZ – blown control board??

Hi there

I’m trying to figure out why my washing machine blew the 2 fuses in the main control board. As the fuses can’t be replaced I want to find the cause before I buy a new board.

My wife waited until the machine wouldn’t turn on anymore to tell me it had been beeping at her for 2 weeks prior, usually about 10min into the cycle. Switching it off then on again at the wall would get the job done.

Things I’ve checked:

Pump is not not blocked
Pump has 33 ohms res
Motor has 31 ohms res even across all 3 wires
Water solenoids have 64 ohms res
Water level hose does not have water in it

My question is what else can I check with a multimeter and hand tools before I plug in a new board?

Board fuses have come up a few times over the years. Board component failure as well as external components both seem to have been blamed. Best bet would be to put ‘fuse’ into Search and select “Australasian Forum” only for a round-up.

Also check for signs of leaking water near the motor area
leaking water onto windings can be a problem
Check inlet coils are not cracked as well

Yep the cold water inlet coil (solenoid) is cracked, but still reads 61.5 ohms. Is this likely to be the problem??

Ok, so I replaced the cold solenoid and fitted a new controller board and the machine works again but after about 30sec faults 10000011. As far as I can tell this is the rotor position sensor. Is there anything specific that could cause this? I’m guessing (hoping) the board won’t be doing it. I have leaned the machine back a couple of times to get at the pump etc but the wiring appears to be ok.

Also, when I advance the cycle to spin the pump runs normally for a short time then starts working in very short bursts, before the rps fault appears. If I manually override it it works fine. Could the rps cause the pump to run erratically?

Repetative rps fault – most likely dodgy/wet/rotten/chaffed wiring. Always worth a look at the lid switch and OOB switch as well – they can cause all sorts of weird faults.

Ok, RPS wiring measures .8ohm on all wires. Wiring and RPS looks good, no sign of water or corrosion etc. How do I check the oob and lid switches e.g what resistance am I looking for? I had a quick search of the forum but couldn’t find any values.

They’re just switches, so infinity or zero.

Thanks for all your help guys. Fitted a new RPS tonight and it seems to be working fine. Fingers crossed it stays that way!
