When I turn on my washing machine it just goes clunk, clunk, then starts beeping.

    error code: 00010000

When I did a diagnosis test, it came up with: 00001000

I am at a state of confusion, because I am now not sure if I have even done the right test.

    What i did was:

Held water temp down button, with the power button.
    Pushed the advance button once.
    Pushed spin speed up button.

It now reads High + Low LED on
    Spin Speed Hold on

    Top panel = 00000010

Can you tell me if I am doing this right or what?

    Thanks

I forgot to mention that the SPIN SPEED is on:

    SLOW + HOLD
    Top panel reads 10000011 L-R

    Eeek!

Clunk, clunk – motor kicking in. 10000010/1 – problems with the rotor position sensor (RPS) readings at the computer. RPS suffers from dampness, dodgy wiring, chaffing of wiring where it turns under the drum, corrosion or just plain failure.

Let’s not worry bout the rest of it yet………..

    Thanks Pengquin for your reply.

I could not help but laff at “Lets not worry about the rest”.

So I would have to replace the rotor sensor…yes? and what would be the product code for that?

That way I can order the part. Oh and would you recommend that I fix it myself, or get someone qualified to fix the problem?

    Re: F & P Smart Drive 601

    RPS is p/no 425221P.

I wouldn’t rush off and buy one without checking first – throwing parts at something is an expensive way of repairing the machine, and I gather that components are not cheap for these machines.

If you’re really not sure how to proceed, pro help may well be your best course of action.

    Hi Penguin,

I did a search for that product code here in NZ, and the part has been Superseded By: 420296P – SD ROTOR POSN SENS MK2 SVC

    for $55.13 inc gst

Does that sound like a reasonable price to you?

I doubt that I would have a choice with that price range really…hahaha

I hate to say this, Juss, but I’m 14,000 miles away in Yorkshire – I’m afraid I simply wouldn’t know a good price for the parts!

Anyway, at least check the state of the wiring down at the bottom first.

    Cheers,
