ParticipantHi,
I have a F & P 051. Over time the time to fill during the wash cycle has got longer and longer, until now it would take forever to fill.Even when set to cold the water filling the machine is warm/hot. I believe that these machines add abit of hot even when the wash is cold.
Any suggestioins on how to diagnose the problem? I assume that it is a problem with the inlet valve or the motor control board that the inlet valve solenoids plug into.
The machine works fine as long as I use a bucket to fill it with water at the appropriate times in the cycle. 😀

If the valve when set to cold wash makes a whooshing noise then the valve is faulty. But first check the inlet filters, remove the cold hose, at the tap end there should be a mesh filter attached to a rubber washer. Clean and refit, making sure the mesh is pointing into the tap. There is also a filter in the valve. Look in the valve itself from the back of the WM and you will see a plastic mesh filter, remove with longnose pliers, clean and refit.
Try this and let us know how you get on. 😉September 14, 2005 at 1:15 am #147287wishwash

HI,
Thanks for the Reply. I have checked all the connections and filters and they all seem OK. There is plenty of pressure from the hose at the washing machine.
The cold inlet valve definitely does does make a lot more noise than the hot hot when water is coming in.So I swapped the hot and cold valves. Ithought this might fix or at least change the problem, but the symptoms remain similar. We don’t usually do a warm or hot wash, so that valve may not get a lot of use.
I can still get a new valve to try it, but not sure if it will help. I am seeing about 6-7 volts across the valve terminals when attempting to fill.
Any suggestions?September 14, 2005 at 2:04 am #147288FastAndPro

You cannot fit the hot to the cold it wont work because of the temp senseing you can try on a cold fill only to test.
Also
The valves on the F&P machines go faulty over time with high water pressure if you put the hot on the cold asuming the valve is the same age it will most likely damage the valve. -
