Hi, I am new to this forum and I am hoping someone can help save my sanity!! I had a smelly washing machine and the softner compartment was always full of water, so I followed all advice on cleaning the drawer and box, the front filter, the pipe, the front drum rubber and I ran 3 empty hot washes, one with a specific machine cleaner and two with soda crystals. I have cleaned loads of gunge and have a sparkly machine, but it still smells and the fabric softner drawer remains full of water, BUT, the softner gets taken. Please help, what should I do?

Have you taken the drawer out and cleaned the syphon?

Also, even although soda crystals are mooted to work on many forums and articles, they really don’t.

What won’t be cleaned is all the gunge stuck to the tub which you can’t see and that’s what creates the smell normally, not the stuff you can see.

    hi
i’m going to tag on to this thread. i’m getting more and more customers moaning about smells usually in bosch machines.i’ve explained about liquid detergent/fabric conditioner etc. i’ve recommended the usual cleaners but they don’t seem to work. short of stripping out the drum i wonder does anyone have a definate product or other remedy to dislodge the sludge?
    thanks

    Hi Keith,

Have a read of this article, follow the links at the bottom of it and you’ll know a lot about it and why the machines are smelly.

    thanks don
i think £20 is a bit steep to try and sell on to the customer. i think i’ll just let them find it themselves from where ever.

and ken i’ve read the article, thanks. pretty much what i’ve been telling everyone for ages. it just seems that lately its being mentioned more and more by customers.
