Hello, new poster here…been lurking for ages, but never had previous reason to post….

Have one of these which has totally died – No lights, noise, nothing !!!

Lifted the lid, checked the supply as far as the control board – has power to the board, but no relay ‘clicks’ or other signs of life…

…also noted some scorch marks / discolour around one large ( 1 watt ) resistor….is it safe to assume a ‘board failure?

…Should say I’m an installation ‘sparx’ rather than a machine repairer, but I just wondered if anyone had similar experience with this machine. The ‘boards are about £100, so need to know that’s my problem before I shell out !

    Thanks

If you are able to test components, it would be easy and cheap to replace the offending resistor,-unfortunately, when they cook, the colour-code bands are fried as well. A wire-wound usually has the value and rating printed and there’s a much better chance the ID is readable.

You could always take the board to a radio/tv/electronics repairer.
As many circuits are ,in essence ,configured from standardised arrangements of components, engineers are often able to look at a circuit and make an educated guess as to the type and value of an unidentified component .

    SORTED UPDATE….

…on further examination of the control board, noticed a 82ohm, 1/4 watt resistor with a slight burn mark on it’s side…

…no resistance measured through it, so whipped it out and replaced it…

…connected all up, and it worked !

Done half a dozen washes since, and all seems well, so yea, worth taking a closer look for the obvious signs on a faulty control board !

Sometimes you’re the dog, other days you’re the lamp post….that was a “dog” day 😆 thanks for posting your result….you were lucky it didn’t take anything else out.

worth leaving it at the same wattage, to act as a “weak link”. rather than upgrade to (probably) 5W and blow something else.

OTOH, if it fails short-circuit,it could cook something else…..ah, well…
