    Hi,

I’ve recently moved in to a rented property which has a Fagor FWM714iT washing machine. Every time I use it, even when a cold wash is selected, the clothes come out feeling really hot. I spoke to my Landlord about this and asked if it could be possible that it’s been plumbed in incorrectly. Having checked, there is only a single feed, which is hooked up to the hot water, which he believes as correct based on the manual reading:

“1.2 Connection to the mains water. If the washing machine has a hot water intake, connect the red hose to the hot water tap…”

and that as there is ONLY a red hose, then it should go to the hot tap. My understanding is that there is no such thing as a hot fill only machine (only hot & cold, and that of there’s only one intake then it’s cold), and that it should be hooked up to the cold and the machine will heat it appropriately.

Can anyone please advise…I’m worried about ruining my clothes!

Also, assuming I’m right, and it should be hooked up to the cold, what do I then do about the dishwasher (which is currently hooked to cold)?

    Many Thanks
    K

    Re: Fagor FWM714iT Water intake

BOTH the washing machine AND the dishwasher need connecting to a COLD water supply. However, the dishwasher will be perfectly fine using a hot water supply whereas the washing machine can only use cold. Therefore in the short term the hoses between the two can be switched around if that is possible.

What you must NOT do is use your washing machine until a cold water supply can be arranged. As you rightly comment, your clothes will be ruined if you continue to use the appliance until it is rectified.

Put your landlord in touch with us if he is yet to be convinced, we will put him straight! 😉
