Machine is a Hoover H-DISH 300, which is probably 18 months old. Salt and Rinse Aid are fully topped up, and I use Fairy dishwasher tabs. China cups and mugs are placed upside down on the upper tray, well spaced apart on a slant, and the P2 Universal cycle is selected. Everything appears to be washed and rinsed satisfactorily, all other items are dried ok, but the bottoms of the cups and mugs are always very wet. Tried opening the door as soon as the cycle has completed, but that makes no noticeable difference. Is this a machine fault, or am I expecting too much of an automated washing process?

I have an over 20 year old Bosch dishwasher and have always had to mop the bottoms of mugs with a tea towel before removing them. The water pools there so you’d need a lot of heat and evaporation to get rid of it all. I’ve certainly never considered it a fault, just a shortcoming of the way the washing process works.

Thanks for your reply Tubafan. Maybe I will try and put a greater angle on the cups and mugs somehow, so that water drains off the tops more readily.
