KeymasterHi
Where is the thermister/thermostat in a fan assisted oven.
The oven takes ages to warm and can be erratic in temperature, burns food?. Have looked through previous messages but couldnt find anything.
cheers

A model name/number would be a good starting point. 😉 In most cases the actual control behind the knob is the thermostat, from this a very thin, long hollow tube goes down into the oven itself to the phial which is the thicker end of the tube. This is usually at the back towards the top of the oven, sometimes behind the inner liners.

Hi
Sorry about that 😳 , its a Fagor 2H-126. Are there any general guide lines for heating up times, eg 30mins for 150 degrees 😕cheers

30 mins to reach 150 deg is far too long.
Is the fan running at full speed at the rear of the oven cavity? I realise you can’t tell what speed but it should pick up pretty quickly from switch on and remain at a high speed throughout. If it’s running slowly, you may see a red glow from the element at the back.
Also check the door seal is in tact and the door is closing with a good “pull” as it touches the oven cavity.

Hi Nick,
How old is the oven? We’ve come across quite a few of the “budget” machines lately that are using 1400W elements, one I think the other day with a 1200W fan element and they take forever to get up to temp. 😕
Normally you’d expect, or I’d expect, a 2500-3000W element in a fan oven to put it in perspective.

I just checked the Fagor tech disk for this model and it says the fan element is only 1000W 😯
In which case, ignore my previous post, it’s probably working to spec.
1000W is ludicrous though for a fan assisted oven, and will take (as Ken says) forever to heat up.

Think of its energy rating though Dave 😆
