    Re: faulty bosch fridge freezer

Ahhaaa!! Thank you Jonmay. I knew something wasn’t right. So NOW I understand what it is I need to achieve.

Yes, you have got the EXACT picture of the predicament…..spot on!!
And, no, there are no screws on the plug. The (now stumps of) wires are “gripped”/”pinched” into the metal connecting “cuffs” of the plug. I will have to tug the stumps out of the “cuffs” and find some small tools to open and reclose the “cuffs” onto the cut end of the wires (having shorted the wires as you described). Again, thank you very much. It may not be today, but I will let you know the final outcome.

Well, I don’t like to speak too soon, but it’s now 4 hours since I completed the “mod” and it appears to be going well. I don’t remember when the fridge was last that nice and cold. It’s a bit noisy, but whose complaining?!?! It’s an old fridge. Thank you, Jonmay (and the supplier of the original advice). 😀

    Re: faulty bosch fridge freezer

    Folks,

I seem to have the same problem – or, at least, I think I do.

c.9yo Bosch KGV3120GB/01, started suspecting it was getting less cool in the week – but noticed that the bulb was staying on half-brightness. Removed the bulb, but it was definitely getting less cool – and it’s now definitely definitely not playing.

I rebooted it yesterday, and it kicked back in for an hour or two, enough to white-over the top freezer element on full-whack plus super*, then stopped again. Leaving the power off for several hours then back on hasn’t seen a peep from it yet.

So – even though I’ve ordered the 491415 kit from here, I’ve got hold of a set of destructions from a previous poster here – and got in to the control panel.

There’s four wires to the thermistor connector block – paired turqoise/plain chocolate and blue/brown. I’m assuming the former’s the ambient sensor, the latter the fridge sensor. They appear to be sensible values – 10kOhm on the fridge, 17k on the ambient.

This, plus the flaky bulb behaviour plus the browny-burny marking on one section of the control panel make me wonder if it’s not quite the same problem. Thoughts?

    Control panel –

I’m going to jump the wires, see if that has any effect, but I’m suspecting it’s brown bread. Unless the control panel’s a decent price? A quick google finds similar part numbers – mine’s 9.981.310.017-5, I can find -2 and -7. Interchangable?

    <edit: Oh, wait – found it listed for Siemens – http://www.qualityelectronicrepairs.co. … elK_1.html >
Worth ordering? The image shows similar singing to mine…

Still, it could have happened at a worse time of year, I s’pose… Not much risk of the milk going off in minutes flat…

    The repair’s academic. I failed.

If anybody wants an unused fix-kit cheap, let me know. It should arrive with me in a few days… Just in time for the old fridge to be taken away.

I seem to have exactly the same symptoms as this poster. The sensors read 6.5 and 15 kOhms, and shorting or disconnecting the 6.5 kOhm sensor does not help in restarting the fridge. The board is not as dark brown as on the picture above, but it has some obvious signs of having gotten too warm in the same area.

Do you still have the fix-kit? Do you think it would have helped if it had arrived in time?
