KeymasterCan anyone point me in the right direction?
I’ve got a Bosch Fridge Freezer that’s not playing ball. It’s 6 yrs old – ENR no. is KGV-2604-GB/02.
A week or so ago it stopped working and the temperature in both compartments rose to the point where the freezer thawed. Over the last week or so it’s only come on a couple of times. When it has, the compartments have reached an acceptable working temperature. Each time though, after it has stopped the temperatures come back up and the freezer compartment thaws out.
It’s now been a couple of days since it last came on. Is this a thermostat problem or should I be looking elsewhere?

ParticipantRob,
dThis is a single compressor fridge freezer, with a digital control board. TBH there are too many variables to give any sort of diagnosis – faults could range from digiboard, thermistors, compressor, start circuits – just about anything.Engineer time I suspect. Check the Directories section for a UKW engineer in your postcode area, or stick it up in here, and someone will pick up on it.

To Penguin45
Thanks for the tip. I’ll call the cavalry and have someone look at it.
Just for the sake of argument, let’s suppose it’s a compressor problem or any other that you mention. I guess that these are all quite expensive repairs. I know it’s a matter of opinion, money, taste etc. but would I be better off putting the money into a replacement fridge freezer?
Look forward to your reply.

ParticipantRob,
You can get recon digiboards, thermistors aren’t too dear, compressor job is horrendous!Bear in mind that Bosch gear is upper mid range for quality, so probably worth getting checked out.
Check in Directories to see if there’s a UKW engineer in your area; failing that stick it up in here and someone will pick up on it.Regards,

Rob,
As posted in another forum the most likely reason for your fault is failure of a foamed in sensor, until recently this has meant scrapping the appliance however Bosch have come up with a repair option that is quick to complete which involves changes to the wiring of the electronic control board, this is not a diy repair I suggest you post up your postcode or look in the directories over to the left for a local engineer.Sparkey

Sounds like same problem as with the siemens fridge/freezer, they supply a replacement part to overide the built in sensor cost £10-50 inc p+p need to check the bosch website or contact spares hotline, if not in the trade need someone to fit it ,it fits behind the control panel where pcb board is. worth the money to try otherwise scrap the machine if its old, board a bit expensive.

KeymasterBosch/Neff/Siemens, often all the same thing with a different fascia and badge as they are all the same group. 😉

ParticipantHi, this topic was a great help, thanks chaps! 😀 I have the same problem with my KGV 2604GB/05. I’ve shorted out the dodgy sensor which has got it working again, but would like to replace the faulty part if poss. I can’t find it listed on the Bosch support site…also, any advice on how to get it out of the foam? whereabouts is it, relative to the control panel? Incidentally, I read somewhere that the working resistance range of these sensor is 10KOhms to 50k. My faulty one reads 100k. 😕

ParticipantRe: faulty bosch fridge freezer
The whole point of the bypass is that the sensors are foamed into the fridge or freezer insulation and are not replaceable. This is why there is no part number listing.

My 6 yr old Bosch FF has just decided to go too! ENR KGU3201GB/01. Can anyone supply the details of an engineer close to postcode ST13 5SB? If so please email beverly.northcott@britannia.co.uk as I can only read this forum until 9am Monday after which time I’ll be away for a couple of days.
Thanks in anticipation.
