I have a Bosch KUR15444GB undercounter fridge that is 10 years old.Recently it started running very cold, with internal frosting, and I suspected a faulty thermostat. We were going away on holiday, and so it was turned off, emptied and defrosted whilst we were away. On returning, it was switched on again, but now although I can hear the motor running, and there is slight frosting after some time being produced it is not cooling below about 10 degrees, with the thermostat setting a lowest temp.
Any ideas on what the problem is likely to be? Is it going to be economical to get it repaired? Bosch offer a one off repair for £95 plus parts, or a 1 year insurance scheme at greater cost around £14 a month. Is it likely to be something that I can repair myself, bearing in mind that it i is quite difficult to extricate the fridge from its built in position for access, or should I go for a new model?

10 years old, sounds like the compressor has chucked it, I’d replace it.

The fault you describe is highly indicative of the compressor failed, could well be due to the extended run times previously.

If you book a call with Bosch they’ll come out, scrap it and charge you for the privilege.

    K.
