ParticipantHi all
Can anyone help me with a problem I’m having with my neb Vicenza oven.
The heating element for the fan oven died a few weeks ago. The fan worked ok, as did the conventional oven, the grill AND the clock/timer display.
I ordered a replacement element via UK Whitegoods and to help ensure I had the correct part I removed the internal panels of the oven so that the element was visable. At the time I didn’t feel it was necessary to replace them before the new element turned up (big mistake).Whilst waiting for the replacement element to turn up (which took quite a whilst due to the heavy snow in Scotland) the 30a cooker fuse on the main fuse board blew, resulting in nothing working, not even the clock/timer not working after I replaced the fuse.
I’m pretty sure something has shorted out, and the guilty look on the wifes face (whilst holding the grill pan) would suggest she put something in the oven that caused the short.
Does anyone know if there is an internal fuse or something similar that is designed to protect the brains of the over from acts of human stupidity (me leaving the oven connected to the mains so we can use the conventional oven and grill).
Regards

Duplicate thread deleted best to keep it one as it causes less confusion.

Don
I’m new to the forum and post it in the general appliance forum before realising that it would be better in the cooking appliance forum.
If you are going to delete one of the post you could have asked which I’d perferred to have kept.

Hi slider
You will get more replies here in the cooker support forum 😉
Quite a few of the engineers who offer advice will only look in on certain forums as they specialise in those groups, hence the forums are well split.
HTH 🙂

Thanks Don
As long as I’m in the cooking appliance section. After you first replied it looked like I was in the general appliance section.
If I’m not in the best section can you move it for me, or explain how I can do it.
Many thank

Is there way to post a photo on this forum? I’ve taken the lid and back off the oven and have fund what I think is the fault. If I can post a picture with a description of where the part is someone might tell me what it is.
The part has plenty of burn marks on it and a small hole that look like has blown through the base of it, no doubt where the power surge did it’s damage.
It looks like it could be an easy fix if I could just find out what the damaged item is called. It’s a small cylindrical unit (about the same size and dimension as a stack of 10 pennys) with a brown wire leading to the clock/timer unit. There was another brown wire from the mains input going to the unit as well, but this looks like it has burnt off the unit because it wasn’t actually connected and is somewhat damaged.
If anyone has any ideas they can call me

Reference the explanation below, I think I have now identified the danaged part as a thermostat, whether there is another unbderlying problem only time will tell. I’ve asked UK Whitegoods to identify the correct part for me to purchase.
If there is still a problem I’ll no doubt post again.
