ParticipantMy cooker has ceased to function properly this evening.
The cooker ignites as usual but the flame stays at the lowest (initial) level. Turning up the dial sees no increase in power!
I used it to cook this evening early on and it worked fine. I went to put it back on again later and it no longer works properly!
The hob works fine so no probs with the gas feed in general.
The cooker has also been subject to continually trying to ignite even when lit since we have lived here.
Any clues would be much appreciated.

The FSD has failed which will require a Corgi registered engineer to replace for you. Not an overly costly repair 🙂
Check Repairs@ for one.
If that throws a blank, pop up your postcode and I’ll see if I can recommend anyone for you.

Cheers Dave,
I’ll book in an engineer ASAP.
Whats an FSD by the way? Ive since noticed that if I leave the dial at gas Mark 5 the power of the flame fluctuates. Does that help further?
Thanks again,
MartinH.

Flame supervision device or sometimes called an FFD (flame failure device), an extremely important safety component on all gas appliances.
Central heating boilers use a thermocouple to do the same job as do some gas fires and a few cookers.
Basically it stops or decreases the gas flow to a safe level should the flame go out for any reason.
The engineer who attends will check the thermostat while he/she is there ref the fluctuation on GM5 😀

Do you have any other suggestions locally?

Most odd, it went to FFR Services who play a staring role in Repairs@ 😀
The only thing I can imagine is the email went astray, did you get a confirmation email with the number on for FFR ?
I’ll email them anyway and cc you in in a few minutes 🙂
