Following a manual defrost of my freezer (Zanussi ZQF6114A), it has stopped working. After switching back on the pilot light flashes and the compressor turns on for a few seconds, before going off. Then the alarm light flashes and gives a quick sound. This cycle continues at a constant frequency. The freezer does get slightly cooler when left on, but never reaches freezing. Any thoughts on what could be causing this problem?

That’s is classic fault with the circuit board on this model. As the circuit board is situated on the bottom front of the cabinet it would appear possibly some of the defrost water has found its way into the housing on this occasion..

Thanks for that. Hopefully should be able to fix this myself. Any idea what component would have gone on the PCB? There does not appear to be any obvious damage to components. Is it possible to get hold of a schematic for the PCB? If not I’ll just locate a new board. Thanks again.

Thanks for your help. I managed to source a new PCB and the freezer is now fully functional.
