ParticipantHi! Appliance is a seven year old AEG Favorit 88070i integrated unit which reported error code 30 at the end of a cycle.
Searched the web for information and expected to find a split hose/gasket etc plus a flooded bottom tray; opened it up next morning to find nothing of the sort. Bone dry, no evidence of ever having been wet and polystyrene float flat on the bottom of tray well away from the microswitch. Switch not jammed.
On power up machine will start off on a programme and then reports error 30; only way to cancel is to power down. Starting thinking secondary fault; controller, loom etc. Traced the route taken by flood microswitch orange wires back to controller board at the front of the machine and believe that the water inlet solenoid coil is in series with one of the leads. The solenoid coil appears to be open circuit (measures > 3M Ohms) Is this how it is actually wired please? What is a “good” dc resistance value for Favorit solenoids please?I’m puzzling why the water solenoid valve is at far end of the hose and the “actual” water pipe is inside a second pipe along with a 220VAC circuit to operate it! All I can think is that it is to detect damage /leaks in the supply hose such that a leak in the pipe will flow along the outer pipe and discharge into the bottom tray and eventually open/trigger the flood switch and shut off the solenoid. A sort of anti flood protection feature that includes damage to the supply hose? That would also need the controller board to be able to detect zero current in the flood switch /solenoid circuit so that the discharge pump could be started. Except in this case the open circuit solenoid appears to the controller as an open flood switch; is that the likely fault I have here? Any ideas please? Regards, Peter.

you are right putting water solenoid before inlet hose means this hose is not pressurised so less likely to burst
one of the faults listed for i30 fault is short circuit triac controlling water solenoid on the pcb. that where i would look nexthope it helps

Thanks for that info on the triac and fault code list; I feel a little more confident. Since the inlet solenoid is definitely open circuit it will have to be replaced before we go any further. Put on order today. Will report back when fitted. In the mean time will have a “familiarisation” look around the controller although I’ll leave out any reverse engineering to draw a circuit until I know there is definitely something wrong in there.
Regards Peter.

H! Full functionality restored after fitting a replacement aqua control hose assembly (water inlet hose with solenoid).
Measured the dc resistance of the new solenoid coil at 3.7 K Ohms before fitting, with nothing else attached. It is clear that an I30 fault code isn’t exclusively a water leak tripping the flood float switch.
It can be an open circuit solenoid coil or a similar open circuit in the connecting leads/plugs & sockets to and from the float switch and solenoid. (If continuity checking in this area always remove the power plug since this circuit is at full mains voltage. ) Thanks for your helpful information re fault code diagnosis.
Kind regards Peter

Great post – this one resolved the issue with my AEG Favorit. Checking the wires that lead to the solenoid on the hose on the ater inlet showed zero ohms. New AEG hose ordered for £35 and job done.
Note : I was also getting error code 10 occassionally too.
