KeymasterI couldn’t find an existing thread so I don’t know it anyone has actually posted about this in the general forum so, I will. 🙂
Now that the usual excesses of the Christmas and New Year holiday are over and, if for you they’re not you’re just bonkers, we can get back to normality and start to get geared up for the next meeting.
As you may (or may not) know we do two meetings a year, one in February and one in September. The September one is a bit more low key, more aimed at engineers and engineer issues. The February one however is a whole different animal altogether.
If you’re even remotely interested in the industry then it is worth the day out, if not more.
It’s even free. Yup, completely and utterly free.
If you can spare the time it is well worth it as many that have been to these meetings will tell you.
All you need to do is register HERE and you’re done.
What’s going on, who’s there and all of that, HERE
Of course, that’s not all the companies or people that will be there. There’s a few more than that.
The display space is all but packed out.
We may well not run seminars because, frankly, we probably won’t have the time to do it, the schedule is pretty much maxed out.
If anyone wants presentation time then it’s possible, just.
It’s a busy, full on day but worth it.
Some of it is under wraps. We don’t like to disappoint on the day and not have a revelation or two. Maybe more.
UK Whitegoods Part In It
I have to do a big presentation, waffle on for a bit about some stuff I’ve been busy with for a year or so and attempt to try to keep you awake through it. I think I might just have cracked that.
There are things I will be presenting that will be of interest. And, as a taster, one of them is on the future of the fault code guide but that’s just one part of what I have planned. Most people will like it and, if you’re there, you’ll know first.
We will, this time, have a UKW stand for the first time ever.
On point is obviously myself whenever you can grab a few seconds on the day, which is why staying over is better at least one night as you can actually get time with everyone or, who you want time with. But also there will be our resident code guru, Sudeep.
So, any IT questions, site questions, how to use the site to your best advantage, get more business from it… it’s all there. Free and face to face.
We might even coax Dave out his parts cave to be there and Sean out his general purpose cave to be there.
Whitegoods Trade Association
All the WTA staff, elected and admin are there.
You can talk to and find out about any aspect of the WTA from a admin, accounts, membership… anything you want, the people are there to talk to you.
If you want to prod the TA, this is the time and place to do it.
There is something that the WTA has up its sleeve as well for this one that will be of interest to many. Nuff said.
ISE
Of course there’s myself that you can tackle on any ISE stuff you want to know but also, on the Friday of the meeting, John Hopwood will also be there.
Want to know anything about ISE, again, this is the guy you want to talk to.
Amica
Simon Freear (Amica UK MD if you don’t know) will be there.
If you want to do some service selling or pitch for some Amica service work, you can talk to Simon face to face about it.
Spares Suppliers
All the major spares suppliers are there.
Qualtex
Masterpart
Connect
AWS
HT MaddocksYou can talk to all of them right there, right then.
Sort problems, hassle them for more discount (they love that, so do it ;)), hassle them about deliveries, availability of spares, how rubbish their website is, how they don’t care about you and then hassle them about prices a bit more for good measure.
They love the attention really. 🙂
Not that I’d ever cause trouble. 😈
But, seriously (honest) these guys are great sports, all of them and are there to help you. They want your feedback, they do listen and they do take note of what feedback they get from these meetings.
Case in point, Qualtex give a generous 5pm (I think) cut off for next day delivery for WTA members. They also actively help and support this site for which we should all be at least saying, “thanks” if nothing else.
CDSL have looked at pricing levels for many people as a result of these meetings.
AWS has given special deal on the day as well as ongoing support on pricing to those that are there and ask.
Masterpart have done all manners of thing to help the people that ask. And also support the site, so big “thanks” again to MP.
HTM have given loads of support to anyone that’s there, as well as giving special deals .
On those alone, it’s worth the time.
Other Things
We of course do the full bhoona.
We’re all there from Thursday afternoon through to Saturday morning. Some say because we’re terminally mental but mostly it’s because we need to set it all up, get the sound right, the display space right and a host of other stuff ready and then clear it all away afterwards.
Fair play to the WTA guys and those that insanely volunteer to help the lunatics that got out the asylum for a day or three, the effort they put in is phenomenal to these meetings.
There are and have been comments from within the industry that it’s no more than a glorified drinking session with engineers griping about this and that.
It isn’t. Far from it.
This is a very professional meeting put on by very professional people that just happen to have a sense of humour and the ability to have a light hearted laugh at themselves. Make no mistake, this is serious business stuff, not a bunch of whining engineers larking about.
You won’t have wasted a day by turning up to meet them or see what is actually out there. Again, far from it. It is often regarded by many as one of the most important dates of the year for them and, after attending, few people miss another.
And, who knows who you might meet, work you might pick up, contact you might make. Whether you’re a repairer, manufacturer, insurer, industry press, retailer it makes no odds, there is value in the meetings we hold.
I’d strongly recommend that you take the time to attend.

I booked my normal 2 nights stay a few months ago.
I think all the meetings are well worth a visit and even better if you can afford the time to stay.
I am looking forward to it as the meetings improve and get bigger and better every time.
I am Looking forward to see everyone in Feb.

Having spent a day locked in a room with R600A , Steven , Bazza500 and Kwatt finalising the day I would strongly recommend you attend this one ,if you are wondering what goes on or have heard rumours of what goes on and want to know more then just ask ,either here or PM me .
If you are planning to attend can I just reiterate we really need you to pre register as it will make life a whole lot easier as printing over 120 name badges on the morning won’t be an easy task ,so we aim to have as much done before the morning as possible.
Feel free to pass the invitation on to anyone you feel would benefit from the day and look forward to seeing you there

I tried to book using the code at around 11:30 this morning, and was advised the allocation had been used up.
So I’m booked in at around £84 like it or lump it, no chance of cancelling or reassignment, my room, payment taken, and that is it!
To be honest I’m not too bothered as it was difficult to book the room. (Language barrier, poor lass couldn’t understand my Worzelese)
See you Thurs night.

I was booked B&B. If I had a bill for £17 breakfast I would expect Champagne, Devilled Kidneys and Kedgeree.

Alex, that’s disgusting.
I do hope you’d do it and not actually eat that.
Personally, I’ll go with the usual full English.
