Fed up with dirty dishes!

I have an Ikea Rengöra dishwasher a few months old. Recently after running a normal eco wash cycle there is often grainy food residue on the inside of the door, on some of the dishes (usually the ones on the outside) and particularly on cups & mugs. By my great detective work one can assume the machine is picking up the food residue from the dishes and then somehow this gets sprayed over everything.

When I first got the machine I was not refilling the salt regularly as I use all in one tabs. The machine did start getting chalky deposits (I found out I live in a hard water area)…so I cleaned the machine a couple of times with a descaling solution. I have taken off the bottom drain cover and cleaned it but no luck so far…..

1 are you rinsing the dishes first ?
2 check the drain had a few badly fitted dishwashers where the sink water was getting back into the dishwasher through bad fitting giving a gritty residue

Don’t tend to rinse then unless heavily soiled but have never found this a problem with other machines. Thanks Dave for the drain tip, I will check the pipe.

Clean out the spray arms too. I bet half the holes are blocked.
