ParticipantHi Folks,
I am having a rep coming to see me from this group. Has anyone had any dealings with them, if so are you able to share your experiences.
Thanks

KeymasterThey seem to do a lot of good stuff, that I’ve never used despite being a member. 😕
Loads of bumph comes through that I rarely seem to have time to read as well. 😕
Thus far it’s made little difference to me but I guess that’s probably as much my fault as anyone’s. However I do know a few people that have used their card services and stuff and they seem to rate it.
Frankly, I may well cancel it as it just really doesn’t seem to offer very much for MY business.

ParticipantWe saved £600 (!) on my van insurance by using an FSB affiliated insurer. That’s worth £100 a year on its own.

Wanted to but have been unable to answer until now. I have just undergone an IR + VAT investigation. Not uncommon when you sell a business you were the sole proprietor of or retire. The cost to me Three phone calls, To inform FSB of inquiry,Answer a question, and say thank you.
During my 15 year membership I saved my fees every year with good vehicle insurance rates. Sound advice on legal matters ie My wife was offered TUPE in her part time job, and given a load of mis-leading information.FSB were asked to clarify position instead they took over negotiations and got a much better deal for all the staff.
Also by attending branch meetings, the links forged, the information passed around.
Last point I have done two Jury duties. A payment is claimable from FSB to cover your lost income. Thats if you cannot get out of it.
There are other benifits which I am sure others can supply.
As for me when I retire I will transfer to the retired section and maintain
My protection against a government (and they are all the same)which hate the self employedAugust 2, 2004 at 12:57 pm #113783Alex

The above happened to me when I changed accountant.
Both inspectors (who visited on different dates), made it clear to me at the end of the visit, they were prompted by the fact I had changed my accountant.
That aside, I’m a member of the Forum of Private Business, and they are much the same as the FSB. They do perform a good servive, at a relatively low cost.Alex
