Few questions

Hi, i have 2 questions which i hope someone can answer, i have searched but to no avail.

1. How does the “Auto 3 in 1” feature work on the latest Bosch models, i have a SRS55C02G and am considering using salt and rinse-aid in addition to Fairy Active Bursts for the best results. Surely the above feature would in fact mean no salt or rinse aid would be used even if i put them in, since the tablets contain them. Is this the case?

2. Is the economy mode (50 deg) recommended? I tried it and it cleaned quite well but i have read it might affect the machine (block more etc) and also possibly block the drains. Any advice?

Also if you have a quick read of your Bosch User Booklet it does explain the ‘Auto 3 in 1 ‘ feature quite well. (A copy can be obtained from the Bosch website) 😉

Thanks, i had read the manual and the linked page, it explains that it will adjust the program if you use combined products but does not explain how it does that and whether or not “adjusting the program” means not using rinse-aid and salt even if they are present in the appropriate dispenser.

Just to clarify from the original post i already use the active bursts but am considering using rinse-aid and salt as well for even better results.

Hi Neil,

Yes, rinse aid and salt (if required, depending on your water hardness level) will mean better performance as a general rule when using Active Bursts.

Thanks, what i am not sure about is will rinse-aid and salt be used by the dishwasher if it senses that the tablets are all-in-one (using the auto 3-in-1 feature which cannot be disabled).

No, the machine will generally not know what tablets you have used and therefore, if you use that program, I don’t think that rinse aid is used. There is no way for the machine to know that other than you telling it.

Yes!

Please note: If you live in a hard water area it is always (repeat, always) best to use salt in addition to your 3 in 1 tabs. Rinse aid? That depends on whether or not you have any drying problems? But for the most part using 3 in 1 tabs you don’t need worry too much over not topping up with rinseaid. 😉 Salt is cheap, salt is the very essence of life, and without it we (and your dishwasher) could suffer…..oh yes 😉

On pressed tabs, correct.

Using rinse aid in addition to “hard” tablets, such as Finish (including Quantum) may well lead to overfoaming issues. Asides from which they don’t perform as well IMO as the Fairy ones by a country mile.

With Active Burst, wrong.

Using rinse aid will improve drying by allowing the water to run off better, so less streaks and cleaner dishes, but especially glassware.
