ParticipantHi I have read through most of the posts on this model and sort of sussed out the problem but need confirmation.
Problem = Firstly last week the fridge temp went up but freezer was ok turned it off and on at mains worked for awhile but then the fridge went warm again.
I have now hoovered out all the fluff in bottom grills and we defrosted it all today and plugged back in. Its now +22 in the fridge and -8 in the freezer. The freezer was ok before but is now stuck at -8.
Error 8 showed up at some point last week thermistor trouble.
Which thermistor should I change ? just the Yellow one ?
PS while I had the freezer back panel off I noticed another fan in the back centre this did not run when I plugged it in should it ?
Many thanks for any help.

the fan in the freezer will not run until it gets to -15 in freezer, how long has the appliance been running for ?

My wife defrosted this morning from 11 until 3 while I was at golf 😀
Its been running now for nearly 5 hours and still -8 freezer + 22 fridge
I think p1 did come up when it first switched on.

4 hours isnt really enough, is best to leave doors open and put a towel in bottom of freezer compartment then leave off for at least 24 hours, it could be that the evaporator is still very iced up.

I previously posted this in the ‘sticky’ but got no response. Hopefully this new thread will glean more info. Thanks in advance.
Greetings. I’ve searched the forums but cannot seem to find the definitive answer to my problem. I have a FF92 with the usual perfectly working freezer & non working fridge.
There are no error codes shown on the display, just -22 for the freezer when down to temp.
However, on switch on from any state, completely defrosted or down to temp the display briefly shows P1. I’ve seen that mentioned several times & I’m wondering if that’s perfectly normal. Could it mean P1=power on or power ok? I digress.
Both fans are running normally and run freely in their bearings. Condenser & it’s fan are free of dust & fluff.
Door switch is operating normally & fan cuts in when the door is closed. I have removed the baffle motor housing and on power up the baffle slowly opens (takes a few seconds from closed to fully open) which in theory at least should allow cold air in to the fridge. It doesn’t!. With the housing removed I’d have thought cold air would flow freely but it doesn’t! Where is it going? The tube is not blocked.Am I missing the point somehow? Given that there are no error codes and that everything appears to operate normally could I still have a dodgy thermistor? Any enlightenment very much appreciated.

There are two tubes, one to let in the cold air and the other to recirculate it back to the freezer. If both tubes are not clear then you will not get any circulation of cool air.

Alas that is not the problem. Both tubes are totally clear. This one has me baffled. Given that everything including the baffle appears to work, could there still be a thermistor problem? With the baffle housing removed, I’d have thought that’d I’d get cold air into the fridge (door switch closed of course) but it’s just not happening. As I said baffle opens to allow cold air in and both fans operate normally. If allowed, the freezer temp gets down to normal rapidly just as when new.

At this point I would discount the thermistor (that is with the baffle plate off and hanging), firstly how did you confirm that both pipes are clear? As stated earlier the evaporator fan does not come on untill the evaporator is below freezing and allowing for the freezer door being closed and the fan running within the freezer then air has to circulate unless the pipes are blocked with ice.

Hi all thanks for the replies I have been busy what with the kids being off etc so have only just got around to posting back.
We left the F/F off all last weekend to give it a proper defrost when plugged back in on Monday afternoon it started and the freezer started to reduce in temperature but nothing in the fridge.
After quiet a long time the freezer reached -22 probably a day but nothing happened in the fridge.
So to clarify things is it right there are 3 thermistors ? I took the backing off and there are 3 plugs green, yellow and a white one. Which ones should I order thanks.

Update ordered and fitted just the Yellow evap thermistor and it didnt seem to work so turned off and forgot about it for a few days.
Turned it on the other day and worked ok but temps going up and down a lot then I found out that where the door had dropped on the closing side the switch was not closing so the fridge light was stuck on and the fridge was not staying cool. Added a couple of washers the the hinge packing the door up problem solved “touch wood”

Update—– Hotpoint should be called NOpoint
The fridge gave up again so I have now bought a new Bosch to replace it.
So far in only about 7 years we have gone through
3 hotpoint washing machines (one only lasting a week)
2 Hotpoint tumble dryers
1 hotpoint fridge freezer
Will never buy Hotpoint ever again what absolute rubbish 👿
