ParticipantHi all
I am trying to find an adapter that would allow a UK fill hose to be used on an American whirlpool top loader – does such a thing exist? I have found an adapter going the opposite way but not the one I want.
Thank you
Jem

UK 3/4 bsp hoses will fit.
The thread pattern is the same but slightly deeper and they go on tighter than tight but without cross threading.
Some posters on here don’t like the idea but almost every Whirlpool washer I see has UK hoses fitted and I didn’t fit them.
The only hose failures I have seen are the originals which have leaked very slightly and rusted away.Steve

At 31 quid a pair……what a bargain eh?

Unfortunately they go the wrong way and are designed to be fitted to an American hose and British tap where as what I want is one that connects to a British hose and American Valve.
They are about as much of a bargain as the hoses for the washer which are nearly £30 each!!!

Clearly if cost is the major issue here then your customer should be made aware of the necessity to fit the correct part nevertheless. Steve’s method of forcing a 3/4 BSP hose onto the valve does work, no question, but does compromise the hose coupling. Knowing how weak and nasty the standard UK plastic hose is your customer should be made aware of the potential miss-match less there be problems in the future toward the person who supplied and fitted the part.
Also, a little bird told me that the water inlet hose supplied and fitted to Maytag/Admiral range of 2 door fridge-freezers actually fits the bill nicely. Though I have yet to establish if this is true or not?
