    Hi,

Wondering if my dishwasher problem is rerlated to water inlet pressure ? It takes ages to fill, the pressure to the inlet valve is great, but really poor after the inlet valve. I removed the pipe and for 600ml in 1 minute into a beaker, is this a problem ?

The appliance is a Bosch SMS6032/GB.

The actual fault I had was that the heater came on when there was no water in the machine, I think the actual problem here was that the sump float level switch was stuck in the up position, but at the same time i noticed the long time it takes to fill (about 15 minutes to fill).

    Any help greatly accepted.

Water pressure from the mains would be the first place to start looking.

600ml into a beaker in a minute isn’t exactly brilliant and I suspect that mains pressure is your problem. The lower the water pressure, the longer the filling time, the longer the machine will take.

That applies to all appliances that fill from mains water.

The pressure of the water supply is really of secondary importance, yes you need a certain pressure for the inlet valve to kick open but the flow rate is the critical thing.

Disconnect the supply hose and run it in a bucket, if it takes longer than a couple of minutes to fill it then that’s your problem…if it fills it quite rapidly then the fill valve is faulty and that’s a fault i’ve seen a handful of times on Bosch dishwashers 😉

I have had quite a few of these and its always been the water valve that needs to be replaced.

Is it on the hot or cold water supply? Hot water usually has the least pressure and may affect the fill time.

If it has that black thin hard fill pipe then there is a filter at the end that screws onto the tap, I have a red one in mine and is dead easy to spot, so checking that is a good idea. Also there is an inlet filter in the valve itself which can be removed with long nose pliers, this could be blocked, thus increasing fill time.

    Hi,

Thanks for the replies. The pressure inlet to the machine is great as i meantioned in the original message, it would fill a 5L bucket in less than a half a minute.

Looks like the problem is the inlet valve from the comments that I have received.

However, the float switch sticking is probably the reason for the heater kicking in when the machine was nearly empty of water.

Would I need to buy this whole assembly ?

    Hi,

Bought a filler valve from UKWHITEGOODS, tried same test as before and got 4.5Litres in a minute, quite a considerable improvement !!

Machine now fills, heats, and swirlls the water around as normal, left the machine running at 10pm, expecting it to finish around 10:30pm, but the following morning at 8am it was still full of water and swirling about.

I am just about to go round to check that I have re-connected everything, (pretty sure I did, as I took a note of everything that i removed).

    Any ideas ?

Yep, your heater has probably gone west due to running with insufficient water 😕

    Hi,

The heater is working fine, I tried to run a couple of wash cycles and found that the machine would do the following:
    (on Econemy Wash 65’C)
    1) Firstly the drain valve opens and water drains from the sump.
    2) Water fills and circulates as normal
    3) Water heats up and continues to circulate as normal, dishes certainly do clean up.
    4) From here on, the machine just continues to circulate the water, never drains, keeps heating the water, and nevers stops.
After 3 hours, I turned the machine off, selected a different program such as Prerisnse cold, and started the machine.
It would at this point drain the water from the sump and continue to cirulate the water for x hours, where x is related the amount of time I leave it switched on.

Do I have a duff programmer or is there something else that triggers the next step of the cycle ?

I think the energy company will look forward to our next bill !!!!

Can anyone tell me the cycle time of the 6 washes on this machine ???

    Pre-rinse wash
    Superwash 65′
    Normal Wash 65′
    Economy wash 65′
    Ecomomy wash 50′
    Quick Wash 40′

    Cheers,

    Graeme.

    Problem Solved.

Bought a new machine, another Bosch as this one seemed to have died aged 14years old.

Strange thing with this one, there was no power chord with it. There was a socket on the rear of it, a bit like the one on the back of a kettle, but bosch’s own unique style.

Turns out the cable had “fallen out of the packaging” at the shop, so picked it up the next day.

Dishes nice a clean again ! Old machine off to the recycling centre !!!!

Thanks again to all who helped.

    Graeme
