KeymasterAs anyone that knows me will tell you, I’m hopeless with personal finance but business finance is a whole different ball game in some ways as in, I can see ways to sometimes generate a little extra.
Is there any objection, if the opportunity arises, to have sponsors of the TA?
By that I mean corporate bodies listed that financially aid the TA publically.
This is not to take more money from repairers, but from the “suits” as I call them as, they have lots of it, we don’t. And, I’m damn sure we can find uses to put it toward.
I’ll give you an example to illustrate the point shall I?
The sh1tstorm that we’re liable to create with the tech info thing and availability of spares information is of interest to more than just us. How many spares suppliers do you think would be averse to having all that available? In turn, this is supporting the accounts that buy parts from them, very possibly helping said accounts to buy more spares and not BER as much.
It is very much in their interest to see that happen so, my opinion, is that we could use some cash from them to fight the good fight. 😉

So long as they support theethos of the mission statement I see no problem ,at the end of the day they need the independents to survive to survive themselves .
Go for it I say

Can’t really argue with that.
Associate membership for sponsors?

I’d agree on associate membership for sponsors; that funding will come in handy as things progress.
On the other hand, they should have no clout like Connect do with DASA. Their role, as Lawrence says, should be clearly seen as supportive of the independent repairers as, realistically, their survival largely depends on us. It will also set an example to the other wholesalers that the WTA will not to be steered by external forces with a vested interest.
Other than that, no problem.Steve.

KeymasterRe: Financial Things
I have this thing that David and others refer to as a “moral compass” whereby I will not allow things to become tainted irrespective of the cost to the business or personally to me. It’s a failing in some ways, but one I can live with.
If anything gets put on the table that causes that compass to start swirling about, don’t worry, I’d be the first to start screaming about it being wrong. This is an association for repairers, if it isn’t in the repairer’s interest to form an alliance then, so far as I’d be concerned, it doesn’t happen. If it dilutes the principles, it doesn’t happen… and so on.
We’re not here to be used, but that isn’t to say that we can’t work with others on mutually beneficial projects with mutually beneficial arrangements.

Quite. Let them on by all means, providing as said above, they support the Mission Statement.
