You are persistent on this detergent business aren’t you Simon, my goodness yes, I’ll give you that! 🙂
Can I refer you back to THIS thread where we broached the subject but over Procter & Gambles all in one tablet/sachet.
The same answer applies in that you can do BOTH if you wish but in my long experience on all things dishwashers, you can so very easily do away with the need to add rinse aid solution into the rinse aid dispenser when using all in one tabs/sachets…OK?

KeymasterAnswer, no.
In some dishwashers it causes overfoaming on rinse which can prove particularly unpleasant for the machine.

No worries there Simon, anytime, our pleasure. 😀
Incidentally if you do get overfoaming happening on the final rinse you’ll need to contact the manufacturer to get it fixed. Rinse Aid is not injected into the final rinse water until the temperature reaches between 50 to 60c. If it enters at a temperature lower than that it will or could overfoam and spill over the bottom of the door.
Now I know also that you have, in the past, been tempted to open the door and take a peek in at various points of the cycle to see what’s happening. However that during the final part off that final rinse stage is when the rinse aid dispenser injects the predetermined amount of cc’s* of rinse aid solution (*set by the user) but only when that temperature is reached.
At that point it mixes instantly with the hot water solution and disperses without any noticable trace, no foam, nothing! The relative density of water has changed almost in an instant, it has become, in effect, thinner and therefore in loose terms, less wet. So much so that it evaporates much quicker and combined with the excess heat then dries more easily.
Whilst all this is going on I wouldn’t advise opening the door but if you do then do please allow all the steam to escape totally into the room before closing the door and re-starting the machine up! 😉

Thanks for the advise Martin, so are you saying i should use all my rinse aid up from the dispenser before trying one of those Finish Max in one tablets, or is there a way i can set the machine to stop using rinse aid other than turning it down to the lowest setting.
Thanks Again.

As I said before you can use both together if you wish. But it is a bit of an overkill to do that and therefore unnecessary. I personally would favour the Powerball rinse aid qualities over the rinse aid dispenser solution. The risk of overfoaming using both is minimal but in order to do so and put your mind at rest then yes, do set the rinse aid dispenser to its minimum setting by all means. And see how it goes, the proof of the pudding and all that good stuff!
Now, one extra bit of info before I leave the subject and check with Matron to see what’s happened with my afternoon medication?……………………. If you find that glassware is the least bit smeary, there’s too much rinse aid goin’ on in there! If on the other hand the glasses are looking spotty you need to ‘turn the wick up a bit’…… 😉 8)
HTH? 😀

Thanks for the Fab advise, i take it also that when the rinse aid has been exhausted from the dispenser and i decide to use the powerball solution i just ignore the Rinse Aid empty light on the D/W.
Thanks again, i’ll let you get on and get your medication now. 😆
