Firenzi Fridge Freezer – fridge too warm

Hi all, any advice here appreciated.

I have a built-in Firenzi (Whirlpool) Fridge Freezer (model no: 8539 755 15060) which is only about 4 years old. The fridge (top) is only able to cool down to about 10 degrees celsius but the freezer (bottom) seems fine. I’ve had an engineer round who recharged(?) the compressor loop with gas but this has made no difference. A phone call to get him back again has resulted in the explanation that it must be a leak, and that it’s internal as he checked all the external joints and seams on his previous visit. His best advice then is the purchase of a new fridge freezer as testing the system would simply be further expense just to confirm, “Yes, it’s a leak”.

Could someone confim for me that this seems the most likely solution and why he seems to have ruled out a thermostat problem so quickly? Just before I have to fork out for a new unit.
