    Hi,

Just joined today and hope this is the right place for 1st post…

I have an in-built fridge, model Firenzi RF920/1 – also marked up as 8539 100 15320. Its installed under a worktop next to a Freezer. The fridge works fine, keeps everything cool OK but over time (a few weeks or so – being pretty busy I dont check every day…!) the bottom of the inside of the fridge fills up with water under the salad trays. Does anyone know what might be causing this or how it might be fixed? Its a right pain. I’m pretty handy technically so would like to try and fix this myself if poss.

If this is bad news and looks like the fridge is on the way out for sure, does anyone know a UK distributor for Firenzi fridges? Since the unit is installed nice and neat under the worktop, then I guess I need to try and replace it with the same model as others may not fit so snugly (also have a fascia door on front etc)

Any help anybody can give, that would be great

    Cheers all,
    David

Defrost drain hole in gutter at back of fridge blocked with sludge. Rod it with a cable tie job done 😀

    Hi Simon

Thanks for your very quick reply, much appeciated. I’ll give it a spin and let you know how things go. Just out of interest, do you know – where does the water go/what happens to it when it disappears into that drain hole? I know b*gger all about how fridges work, just curious!

    Cheers again

Hi David , the water normally drains through the hole at the rear bottom of the fridge interior into a small container on the top of the compressor where it evaporates due to the warmth from the compressor .

The drain hole could be blocked with sludge , as Simon says , or a piece of foodstuff .

Also pour just one or two drips of bleach directly into the drain hole once it’s clear…that’ll deal with any residues that would otherwise grow and block the hole again 😉

Clive , i sometimes advise the customer to use a cotton bud dipped in bleach to clean in and around the drain hole 😉

Well what I can I say, thank you very much EVERYONE for your responses and advice, yet another use for the humble cable tie! I wiggled one around in the drain hole and the small pool of water that was already forming disappeared. Awesome. Good tips on the bleach I think too.

Thanks again everyone, saved me a few quid for sure.

    All the best
    David

Please can someone help? This fridge was freezing up over the last 4 weeks so I lowered the temp. Still the same issue. Now the fridge is not cooling at all.

I did have the same issue with the back drain hole blocking yonks ago and the guys have really helped here!

Can anyone help me please? I suspect I need a new fridge.

    Thanks
