ParticipantHi,as the title suggests I’m planning on buying my 1st dishwasher. It needs to be a full sized integrated one.
I fix gas boilers for a living and after reading your buying guide found it quite surprising how similar your views on appliances are to ours on boilers. There are some boilers out there that I literally wouldn’t have given because when they breakdown the parts are a fortune or others that would just breakdown constantly. There are also plenty out there that have expensive badges on the front but the same parts inside as said cheap and nasty ones.
With this in mind I want a dishwasher that is reliable, wont cost me an arm and a leg for parts if it does break, wont make engineers run a mile because the fault finding, tech help etc is terrible. I also want it to be quiet when its running.
After doing a bit of research I liked the look of the Bosch SMV69T20GB, However I recently saw the Beko DW686 seemed to have similar specs for half the price. Would you recommend either/neither of these? Are there any others in between this price range that are better? One final question, what are IKEA appliances like as they come with a five year guarantee?

You will almost certainly be advised to go with the Bosch.
However, Bosch have been getting more and more restrictive with service information and some electronics must be programmed by them and, them alone. They effectively can hold you to ransom.
Beko are “okay” and bear in mind that, although it might not last as long, perhaps perform just as well and be not as well built, it is half the price. On the plus side, parts are usually not horrific for Beko as we sell a few for dishwashers now, they’re easy to get and the machines are relatively easy to repair.
IKEA machines used to be Whirlpool badged up but I think that’s now changed and I can’t recall who’s machines they use now but, it’ll be one of the usual suspects in a dress.

Most if not all retailers will always have at least one budget end not so good quality brand, if you don’t someone else will and no one wants or can afford to give business away to a competitor these days.

Hi
Gorenje are well worth a look then Bosch, Neff and Miele if you can afford to go the extra mile.
