First hand experience of exploding oven door !!!

😯 Was heating up the Diplomat ADP 3322 oven in my rented flat , ready for my jacket spud when i witnessed first hand – and very close – an inner oven door going BANG !!! and shattering into a million fragments .

There was nowt hanging on the door handle and the machine has been fine for 3 and a half years. The only thing i can think of is a build of grease on the glass…..i’m not the most effecient houseworker !!! I know that neither of the two grills were touching the glass so that seems to be the only explaination i can think of.

I had the same thing happen on an IGNIS built in single oven, except that it was the outer glass. The customer assured me there was no misuse, so I have know idea what caused it.

If there is enough grease build up and heat the grease vapourises and can ignite.

I bought a New World oven 2 years ago and first use the chicken is in, I’m on the phone and a loud pop. The outer door had shattered before the chicken was cooked but the microwave came to the rescue. New World sent a new door next day and I was impressed by their quick response.Got a spare too 😆 Love the oven, simple without digital timers.
Had a couple on Kuppersbusch recently and over £150 for just the outer glass, no handles just glass and a bit of trim 😯 .
