ParticipantHi everyone, this is my first post so hopefully you could help me out.
Me and the GF were lucky enough to have an offer accepted so we are getting our first home, but while its all going through we are looking at the wide range of appliances available.
Im gonna say we have £400 max to spend on each
washing machine
fridge freezer
CookerNow my mum has been through sooooo many washing machines, they do work overtime but she has only ever bought ones like Beko, indesit, hotpoint.
I suggested to my GF we should get a bosch, only because i often see them used as rental machines. She says they look a bit bland, doesnt bother me, id rather have something that would last. So would a bosch with my budget be the best option.
Fridge freezer, well i did a bit of research but alot of this comes down to space you need and the look of it i think and £400 doesnt seem to buy much, what brands would you recomend.
Cookers, again i know its a small budget but what should i be looking at, we are thinking of freestanding cooker, gas hob, electric oven, wedid see a nice looking New World cooker, kind of a oldy lookin thing with a newer look. I remember the brand whn my nan had one back in the day.
Hlp please guys 😀

Washer: Bosch WAQ283S0GB
Fridge/Freezer: Bosch KGN30VW20G
Not many dual fuel cookers around in your price range but you should be ok with the New World, its built in Britain.Sent from my iPhone

just had a quick look for Gorenje washers, theres 1 or 2 available from a online retailer, what woule be the diffrences between this and a bosch, apart from a year extra warranty on the Gorenje

In my opinion the Bosch is better, my experience is that it sometimes takes a long while for parts for the Gorenje’s when they go wrong.
Just my opinion, but why don’t you find your local independent retailer and ring or visit them for a deal, you may be surprised at what they can offer you.January 14, 2014 at 10:16 am #392335don

I would think the OP has made their purchase by now( nine months later) 😉
To be fair though Doc there was a spammer on this thread earlier which I deleted. This brought the thread back to the top of the new posts page for a short while.

Hi would your advice on dishwasher and Fridge freezer be the same. I’m a single guy and will using the washing machine a maximum of twice a week. I have not set myself a budget but I am keen on getting the “best” value for money I can.

Hello, I’m actually in exactly the same situation now, and just joined here after seeing this forum touted on Moneysavingexpert’s boards! The flat I’m buying is a total reno, with a tiny open-plan kitchen (roughly 2.5m x 2.2m) in a U-shape. The budget of £400 would be ideal but I’m really not finding much in that price range!
I’m springing for a new IKEA METOD kitchen, but research online recommends I source appliances first so that I can design around them. I wanted to go freestanding for everything so that they’re easier to swap out/maintain if things go wrong.
I’ve wanted a SMEG fridge forever, but that is stratospherically out of budget! So I found similar £600-£700 retro styles by Gorenje (RF60309OW) and Miele (KDN12823S-1) that I might stretch to, though it worries me that the Gorenje’s not frost-free. Never heard of Gorenje until today; seeing these posts makes me a bit more reassured! Any thoughts on these two? Or are they both terrible and am I falling for style over value here??
I got an Argos voucher so it’d be ideal to buy from there, but no biggie if not (can always use it on a TV later 😛 ). The cookers Argos sell are between Beko, New World, Bush and Hotpoint. A few threads on this board have put me off Hotpoint, but what about the others? Or is this one where I should just spring for the IKEA inbuilt ovens/hobs (the one at my parents’ house seems pretty OK)?
Lastly, washing machine/dryer… I could make this my Argos spend instead of the cooker, maybe. In which case, the available brands are Hotpoint/Indesit/Candy/Hoover – any strong feelings I need to know about either of these?
Sorry for the essay; I know this is all as vague as they come, but literally no idea where to start… would love any opinions about my starter-set!
