ParticipantWe quite like the look of the fisher and paykel E522BRXU Ice & Water fridge freezer. It should fit in nicely in the space we have
But I dont know much about the make. How do they compare with other better known makes e.g. which make/s would you say they are most comparable to in terms of reliability, value for money etc
Cheers

From my own limited experience of F&P refrigeration they have proved very good indeed and they have certainly got some fans in the trade.
It’s a very nice looking machine, so nice and different with the ice and water as well as not being the size of a small house that I asked F&P UK if we could have one to review, as yet though I’ve not had a reply from them.
However there’s nothing that would give me cause for concern over them really.

I’ve been looking at fridge freezers for a couple of days. I was hoping to get a side by side but when I went to the shop today I went off the idea because you can’t put them in a corner. You have to have about a foot either side because the doors open on both sides which unless you have a very large kitchen is not in my opinion a goer.
Anyway the shop had a Fisher & Paykel E522BRXFD on display. It was a little more expensive than I budgeted for at £1199 but, as the previous poster said, has the facilities, and also not quite but not far off the capacity, of a side by side without taking up the whole room (79cm wide). Both doors open on the same side which means it can go in a corner and inside its very large and airy.
The price seems quite good in comparison to similar 70+ wide non side by sides and none of the others seem to have plumbed in chilled water.
The said shop dosent offer their paid for extended guarantee of 5 years only offering 2 years free warranty, but could that be because the manu guarantees the compressor, condensor and rust for 5 years?
It seems to be a brand new model and very advanced, and to be honest I am tempted to buy one. What I was wondering is, has anyone also got experience with one, or more realistically as its a new model with an older model from F & K? I see from the australasian forum that people are getting faults with their products after 8-10 years which sounds quite encouraging but they were washing machines not fridges.
Also one more question – the water filter is external – will that mean I can get any make of external filter?
