Fisher Paykel AWF70MD fault code F14 and (00000100)

Hi there,

I have a Fisher and Paykel Front loader washing machine with model AWF70MD.

The digital display flashes F and 14 which the user manual says is a “Failure of an electrical component”.

Going by the diagnostic information with the lights display it appears to be (00000100) which if I am reading correctly is a communications fault betwwen the motor controller and the display module.

After playing around with the wheel knob I manage to get a wash cycle to appear, although I think that is a fluke as it will revert to a F 14 display if I turn it again.

I have tried looking around for details on fault codes or even parts regarding the AWF70MD model but so far have no success.

I can get the machine to work but it involves lots of patience as I have to keep switching the selection dial to the required program and hope it does not display F14 error. If there is an error, I will turn it back to the OFF selection.

Eventually after 8+ tries it works. The closer the program is to the OFF selection the more likely I will get the selection without error.

Once I have a selection that works and start it, the machine will go through its full cycle without problems. After it finishes its cycle, any further selection will result in in F14 error again.

My current dilemma is that the machine is recently out of warranty and I am debating whether this is a major or minor job. To complicate matters further, someone in my workplace is offering a hardly used three year old front loader for half price.

F14 Fault is an eeprom failure
Generally control module fault

This washer is a F&P badged Whirlpool Frontload

Thank you for your reply and confirming my suspicion it will be a major repair. I will be looking for a replacement washing machine and hope I can offload the washing machines to someone for parts.
