    Fisher and Paykel Wall Oven
    Model # BICT600E
    Serial # AHD603531
All functions on oven are working, but when baking oven is very slow and cakes fail.

After reading other forums and the advice secton I believe this could be either the bake element on the bottom of oven, or a thermostat problem.

Does this model of oven have error codes?
Can I replace elements or the thermostat myself?
Any advice on this would be much appreciated.

Haven’t got the tech info on this one I’m afraid.

However – elements generally work, or they don’t. Typical resistance readings are 20-40 ohms, depending on the power rating. You mentioned error codes on this one, so presumably some form of digital control? If you have a rotary knob, the thermostat will be the mechanical “gas capillary” type. These can go out of calibration over the years. If you have keyboard controls, the temperature control will be by thermistor and electronic comparator arrays – very complex.

I’d start by checking the elements – you’ll probably have to pull it out for
access to the heaters. Power off, of course.

BigSmokePiker will probably be along later and be able to add rather more specific info for you.

There is no diagnostics on this model
Are you referring to Fan forced function?
Is the fan at rear of oven cavity working?
Id Check fan element (20-25Ohm)at rear of oven behind shroud Access thru front of oven Power off.Typically with F&P ovens this is the most common problem
If this is the case Part # 542653P

Thanks Penguin45 and bigsmokepiker for your replies.

Yes it has digital controls for timer, clock programming etc.
Knob controls for Temp. and Cooking Mode ( Bake, Grill, Fan Bake etc.)
The fan at the back is working.
When checking elements (Power off of course) what should I be looking for with regard to signs of failure?
I will check elements today and get back to you.

    Thanks again.

Rear element working fine (red hot).
Top element working fine (red hot).
Bottom element hot, but not glowing red even on high.
Can i remove element and replace it myself?

To test element you,ll need a multi meter
Bottom Element is 1200 Watt( Reading 44 Ohm)
    Element can be removed/Tested
Access is at rear of oven
If Element tests ok you May A problem with Function Switch(IE Cooking modeSwitch)
